2017 Honda CR-Z Hybrid, Redesign, Turbo, Price, Release Date
The concept of 2017 Honda CR-Z has been introduced by Honda in 2007. Its design is enough to create a big impact on the market. As we know that, the new CR-Z is based on the iconic model, CR-X. Honda promised it as the sports car with two-seater design. In addition, it is possible to come with a six-speed manual transmission as well as a modern hybrid engine.
In fact, we were disappointed when it came to the market in 2010. It was available with an aggressive look, but the engine was not enough as we expected. After that, Honda released it with some cosmetic transformations in 2013 and 2015, but again the performance was not as powerful as it should be. Now, Honda learned something and going to release it.
For its design, we can say that it has the same system as the new Honda Civic, yet it has some parts from Honda Civic Type R and Acura NSX. The company is going to make it bigger, but lighter than the previous model. In addition, the new 2017 Honda CR-Z has more cutting-edge styles than before. The front part of the vehicle comes with a sleeker grille that has some chrome accents. The headlights are noticeable with more hostile look. At the back, Honda will redesign the bumper to complete the stylish taillights. Other changes are the angular body system line, back wings, folding side panels, and the well-defined aerodynamics.
So, what we could see inside the cabin? The new 2017 Honda CR-Z is going to have one seat row to support two people. The cabin is big ad sufficient with head-room and leg room. It also has more ergonomic guiding wheels and seats. The design is innovative with a nine-inch of display screen for its efficiency. Honda will also complete it with better infomercial and navigation system. They upgrade the technology inside the vehicle with the high level of safety features.
Under the hood, Honda’s Research and Development center in India explains about the new generation of 2017 Honda CR-Z. They said that it is going to use the Civic platform. Besides, Honda will share the engine with the newest Civic Type-R. If the Type-R engine is used to complete the CR-Z, of course it can give more advantages to the vehicle. First, Honda will detune the engine from Type-R’s 360 hp. However, the U.S. turbocharged 2.0-liter and VTEC inline-four engine should be bigger than 280 hp. This is enough to make us forget about its current hybrid engine with 130 hp.
To support the performance, Honda will pair the engine with a six-speed manual transmission. Buyers still have the choice of a CVT transmission system. For other engines, there will be LSD differentials and suspension double axis strut. In the end, it is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph within 6.5 seconds while the top speed is about 140 mph. We do hope that Honda is going to offer a hybrid engine with a 1.5 liter of fuel engine and an electrical motor to make 200 hp with the use of an eight-speed auto transmission.
2017 Honda CR-Z Release Date and Price
Likely, Honda is going to release the vehicle with the starting price about $36,000. We expect to see its arrival in the last quarter of 2016 or in the end of 2017.
