2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Redesign and Release Date
For the current generation of Sonata, it was unveiled in 2015 and it was completed with Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language presented by Hyundai to give more conservative look and to raise the market interest in its home, South Korea. But, the new 2018 Hyundai Sonata will be featured with big DNA from the HCD-14 concept, without removing all the cues from Hyundai Genesis. It is still unknown whether or not the company will give a success hit in South Korea since the prototypes are not readily available yet, but in US and Canada, its sales was lower in 2015 than in 2014. Now, it will enter the three-year life cycle and the company has a plan to offer it with mid-cycle facelift to give this mid-size has some slight tweaks to its exterior, interior and engines.
The prototype was spotted in snow with well covered body and padding. The Hyundai emblem can be a decoy but it is placed lower compared to the current model. It can be that Hyundai planned to lower the mounting point to the middle of the grille or the grille is taller than before. In addition, the slats of the grille indicated to have new thinner slats for a sportier front end. A strong padding is added down below with the weird lip effect that may be removed to define the front end. We hope to see new headlights units. For the fog lights, 2018 Hyundai Sonata will get significant change. The company wouldn’t make it thin and horizontal detail, but it goes as a vertical fog lights to make it totally different. Other changes are the taller side view mirrors with new exterior lights, sharp body line for fender back and LED taillight lens in arrow-like design.
2018 Hyundai Sonata is still good with minor changes. It will be completed with updated instrument cluster with bigger TFT screen and updated infotainment system. It may not provide larger screen size and it is expected to have significant changes around the vents and the trim of the screen. It also comes with Standard features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is expected to not change for its audio system since the company will keep the optional 400-Watt Infinity audio system for better sound quality. New options around the wood trims on some models will be added with the softer touch to offer. Its steering wheel and seats will be the same as before but new color options perhaps are available.
2018 Hyundai Sonata Engine
It is a nice decision if they keep and maintain the current engine for the Sonata. 2.0 liter turbo will be placed in Sport 2.0T and Limited 2.0T trims with 245 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. All engines will be featured by direct fuel injection. There is also 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter with six-speed auto help while the 1.6 liter for seven-speed dual-clutch will be exclusively used by the Eco model. The all models of 2018 Hyundai Sonata will be mated to front-wheel drive only.
2018 Hyundai Sonata has mild update and likely the price wouldn’t go up too much. it should be about less than $25,000 for the SE model.
