2019 BMW i8 Spyder Changes, Specs, Redesign, Release Date
Everything about the new 2019 BMW i8 is on the surface when the spy photographers revealed about the spy shots of the vehicle. It is a popular vehicle and they spotted it during the winter test drive. It seems that the company wants to introduce it as the 2018 model year. The convertible has a beautiful design with some updates available to offer.
There are some subtle improvements available on the 2019 BMW i8. The company wants to make it a little bit different from the original coupe body style. It has a small scale and steep rear window to replace the iconic sloping rear windshield. The engine cover is gone since the company will use new cowls for the rear wings. The convertible roof has a single removable panel that you can put it away by using your hands. This design was from the i8 Spyder concept in 2012. The difference is it has two-piece roof panel, not one.
As other spy shots, there are no photos available to tell us about the cabin changes. We expect that the company provides the new 2019 BMW i8 with latest technology development. For example, it has iFuture Interaction Convertible concept that the company introduced it at 2016 Consumer Electronics Show. The roadster is possible to have some interesting features such as gesture control and multiple digital displays.
2019 BMW i8 Engine
The information about the engine and performance is still unclear for the vehicle. At the time of writing this report, we hear that the company provides the new 2019 BMW i8 with the current turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three engine as well as an electric motor combo. This engine works with a six-speed auto transmission to make more than 362 hp and 420 pound-feet of torque. It is still possible for BMW to improve the output. We hope they can improve the battery capacity to enhance the electric range to be more than the current 15-mile of capability.
